The Original “Blakemobile” Sighted!
A friend of mine just sent me a photo of my first car at a gas station. A 1984 Chevy Cavalier Convertible. My family has a tradition of our first car being built the same year we are born (my dad still has his 1955 Chevy Belair!) While not the most “grand” car ever made it was so much fun. It was a little car with a decent engine. My dad had it repainted, upholstered and a new top put on. His business allowed this to be done at very little cost. I installed an awesome stereo and even an airhorn! The 1984 Cavalier convertible was a test market vehicle and so there were very few made, this possibly being one of the last still in existence.
I drove it all through highschool and it quickly gained the moniker “Blakemobile.” I sold it about 6 years ago and have always had a little regret in that decision. It’s really good to see she’s still running and being taken care of.
