“We have liftoff on Apollo 11!”
Forty years ago today Apollo 11 lifted off from Cape Canaveral on it’s way to the moon! The greatest technological endeavor ever taken on by mankind was under way. John F. Jennedy gave his famous “We choose to go to the moon..” speech only days after we put the first man in SUBorbit and now NASA had been asked to the unimaginable. Put a man on the moon and return him safely to the earth before the end of the decade!
The best and the brightest minds from all over the country were in a race against the clock to fulfill Kennedy’s vision.
After years of prepration and planning we were ready and on the morning of July 16, 1969 the giant Saturn V rocket lifted-off carrying Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins on their way to the moon!
