“We have liftoff on Apollo 11!”

Forty years ago today Apollo 11 lifted off from Cape Canaveral on it’s way to the moon! The great­est tech­no­log­i­cal endeavor ever taken on by mankind was under way. John F. Jennedy gave his famous “We choose to go to the moon..” speech only days after we put the first man in SUB­or­bit and now NASA had been asked to the unimag­in­able. Put a man on the moon and return him safely to the earth before the end of the decade!

The best and the bright­est minds from all over the coun­try were in a race against the clock to ful­fill Kennedy’s vision.

After years of prepra­tion and plan­ning we were ready and on the morn­ing of July 16, 1969 the giant Sat­urn V rocket lifted-off car­ry­ing Neil Arm­strong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins on their way to the moon!
